B #1

18-30 July 2022, Tanzhaus Zürich

For its first ever edition, the choreographic development platform brought together a large group of movers of all kinds with an insatiable curiosity to explore all things dance and choreography can be.

During a two-week process-oriented artistic exchange, 3 choreographers (1 international, 1 national, 1 local), 15 professional dancers (from various linguistic regions of Switzerland) and 15 non-professional dancers (from Zürich) had the unique opportunity to work under the guidance of the internationally acclaimed Belgian stage director Alain Platel. As an artistic research guideline, Platel invited the eclectic group of participants to creatively respond to Stravinsky’s music Le Sacre du Printemps, a daunting challenge for any creator but also a rite of passage in the dance field.

The platform comprised daily training practices, research sessions, collective feedback get-togethers and private mentoring sessions for the choreographers. The outcomes of the choreographic research were presented to an audience on Saturdays 23+30 July 2022 at Tanzhaus Zürich.
